Are you looking for an easy, inexpensive way to help those in need in our community?
So was I.
There is so much need these days, and it's so hard to narrow down where to contribute.
- Many folks are looking for a way to make an impact that stays in our area.
- Maybe you are struggling, too, but you still want to help.
- Perhaps you are overwhelmed with the options available.
As I was scrolling social media over the last couple of months, I kept seeing these affordable, shelf stable meals in a bag. I loved the idea of being able to provide a full meal for families. Then, I came across something that hadn't crossed my minds when I was looking to provide assistance to our neighbors...
Birthday Cake Kits.
If you have ever struggled to put food on the table or provide gifts for the holidays, you know that birthday celebrations are likely the last thing on your priority list. But, what if they didn't have to be? What if we could provide kits to local food banks so that our community members who need a little extra help can also provide a special day for their kids?
Each Birthday Kit will include:
- Cake mix
- Can of Sprite
- Disposable pan
- Frosting
- Candles
- Matches
(Sprite? Yes! You can bake a cake by mixing a box of cake mix with a can of Sprite. Did you know that? Brilliant!)
So, how can you help?
I did a bit of research to figure out how much it would cost to assemble a full, shelf stable, Birthday Kit. The cost is about $10 per kit.
I have decided to collect funds from our amazing MacKID readers to assemble as many kits as we have the funds for before December 31. I will assemble the kits, and donate them to food banks in the Lakewood and Littleton area.
How do you make a donation?
Please make your contribution in any amount that you are comfortable with to:
https://venmo.com/u/Christen-Reiner
- Be sure to include a note that says "MKLL Help Our Community Celebrate"
- Choose Friends and Family (vs a business) so we don'y lose any precious funds to fees
Don't have Venmo? Email me for other options.
What if, together, we can help a few families find joy for at least one day?
I'm in. Are you?
